Hello Des Moines!
After nearly a year away, we’re ready to get back to Des Moines for the
2012 Edition of the New Belgium Brewing Urban Assault Ride! We’ve got
some great new obstacles, a couple of very mysterious mystery
checkpoints, and of course a rip roaring after party planned for Sunday.
It’s now time to take the online quiz – remember that the BEST scores
will start in the first wave, so take your time and get your learn on.
Before the quiz, we have a couple of announcements:
1.All checkpoints for the Des Moines event have been posted at:
http://www.urbanassaultride.com/desmoines.
You’ll have 6 obstacle and 2 mystery checkpoints this year (for a total
of 8 beads per team). It would be a good idea to start mapping your
route now. The CLUE for the first mystery checkpoint will be posted on
the UAR Des Moines Page on Thursday AFTERNOON.
2. We want to make sure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable time on
Sunday at the Urban Assault Ride, including other road and bike trail
users. Please be respectful of other cyclists, pedestrians, and
automobiles and follow the rules of the road. Also please make sure that
your bike is in operable condition and you have the proper equipment
with you on race day to fix a flat tire (inner tube, pump, tire levers,
etc.)
3. The UAR after party at Mullets (1300 SE 1st St.) is open to
everybody. We’ll have some great New Belgium beer on hand and the
proceeds go to the Des Moines Bike Collective, so invite your friends to
come out and have a beer to support cycling in Des Moines! We'll also
have a VERY entertaining prize raffle which they are welcome to join in
on.
4. Weather Policy: The Urban Assault Ride runs rain or shine – because
we know you’re a hard core group of cyclists. Dress appropriately; it
looks like it will be a very warm and sunny day.
5. Packet Pick-Up is again at El Bait Shop (200 SW 2nd St.) on Saturday
from 11am - 3pm. You MUST check in at Saturday packet pickup together
OR sign up for VIP Sunday pick up.
NEW FOR 2012, each teammate can sign up for the VIP PACKAGE
individually! And don’t forget about all of the cool extra SWAG you get
with the VIP Package!
THERE IS NO PACKET PICK-UP (meaning you get no packet) ON SUNDAY UNLESS
