Just in case you are not on the Ride Reminder List, here is what was sent out.

JULY

That's all I'm saying.. It's the end of JULY already ?!? Seems like the end of April by the weather, all this rain, and my lack of miles! This Ride Reminder is pretty much about having FUN next week! I cannot wait until the vacation starts, I'm on my bike, and don't have to wear a watch for a week! And hey - I won't be tethered to a computer either. go figure! OK... I may post to Twitter, Facebook and a bit of BIKEIOWA goodness if time allows. Ridin' with friends is what it's all about.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to TWO WINNERS winners this week

Gary Ruder of Williamsburg, IA is the winner of the CycleSound unit donated by Del at CycleSound! Gary's name was randomly chosen from 311 entries. Thanks to all who entered and most importantly, Thanks to Del for his donation!
Mike Sacora of Cedar Rapids IA won the $500 Bike Culture Contest. Check out Gary's winning entry. The contest was hosted by Miller Lite and BIKEIOWA.com and we were looking for entries to make Iowa Biking Culture better. Out of all the entries, we felt that Gary's idea brought the most "Bike Culture" to the table. Congrats Gary! Several Runner-ups were posted as well. Thanks to all who submitted entries.

RAGBRAI XXXVII COMETH

It's here! RAGBRAI is here! The RAGBRAI site has had a flurry of new postings and the forums are going wild. You can just tell that this year will be one of the betters ones!. Everyone seems to be hyped for this year's route. The growth in social networking just over the last year has allowed the towns to promote their events so much more efficiently, and get the information right in front of folks. Very Cool!

Everyone have a GREAT TIME! and remember, you are on vacation. RAGBRAI is not a race. Explore and enjoy all the pass through towns. I guarantee your best memories will be in some of those smaller pass through towns.

I'm looking forward to meeting a ton of new friends this year! RIDE SAFE everyone!

MILLER LITE PARTY STOPS

Ahh.. now for some more FUN! You know that Miller Lite sponsored BIKEIOWA. They have been so great to work with, and they have dedicated so much effort into making the Miller Lite Party Stops "The Place To Be" when you wanna stop and have an adult beverage (or two). If you have not looked at all the Party Stops this year, take a long hard look at the schedule here.

They've got beer gardens, bands, food, showers, shuttles, and oh yeah.. BEER available all week long! I mean what good is a "beer garden" without beer?!?

My prediction. The Whittemore Party before Algona, Rumorz at Clear Lake, and the downtown Waterloo Party Stop will be rockin'. There is something going on every day and most days have 2-3 events per day... If you don't like the big parties, check out the 'bar roll call' at the bottom of each day to catch the supporting bars.

I hear if you mention "you saw the Miller Lite Party Stop Schedule on BIKEIOWA.com" to the Miller Lite Girls, you can get yourself a FREE t-shirt. If it doesn't work, don't be bummed. We are told that t-shirt quantities are limited, but they will hand out what they can.

TEAM BREWHAHA BAR GUIDE

Did I mention that Team Brewhaha rocks? I was iffy that the 2010 Unauthorized and Unofficial Bar Guide XXXVII would be released before RAGBRAI started. Well, the Brewhaha boys pulled it off again, and posted it in the nick of time. This is a Unauthorized and Unofficial must-take item on RAGBRAI.

URBAN ASSAULT RIDE

We know you will still be having those "RAGBRAI happy thoughts" for months after the ride is over. Well the Urban Assault Ride is coming to Des Moines on August 22nd and it just might fill the void where RAGBRAI left off. This should definitely be worth the trip to Des Moines to participate. There is a videos on the BIKEIOWA Feature that gives you a taste. Not sure yet, do some Google search for more.. We Likey!

OTHER STUFF

Sure, I could go on and on about all the other Iowa cycling related stuff going on like trail connections, Master plans, events, destinations, races, etc. but I'll cut this Ride Reminder short as I've got some packing to do...
