Driver Sought After Cyclist Hit, Killed

Cumming IA August 30, 2009 Police Looking For White Pickup Truck Investigators are looking for the driver who hit and killed a Des Moines bicyclist on Sunday. Police said Mark Grgurich, 54, was hit on G-14 in Warren County at about 11 a.m. The Iowa State Patrol, Warren County Sheriff's Office and other law enforcement agencies are keeping watch for a white Chevrolet pickup truck. Two people who said they saw the crash told investigators that both the truck driver and Grgurich were heading east on the road. They said the truck was speeding when it hit Grgurich and sent him flying 200 feet into a ditch. He died at the scene. Deputies said the road is popular with bicyclists heading to and from the Great Western Trail.
