The City of Cedar Falls has earned the Bronze Level Bicycle
Friendly Community Award by the League of American
Bicyclists. The community has taken great strides towards
improving the bicycle environment. The effort has paid off
becoming Iowa's first community earn the award.
The Bicycle Friendly Communities Campaign is an awards
program that recognizes municipalities that actively support
bicycling. A Bicycle-Friendly Community provides safe
accommodation for cycling and encourages its residents to
bike for transportation and recreation. A committee reviews
and scores the application and consults with local cyclists
in your community. An award of platinum, gold, silver or
bronze status is designated for four years.
Cedar Falls has completed a bicycle plan during the past
year that includes 53 miles of on-street bicycle routes,
lanes, and way finding markings. The community has
developed a world-class trail system and is now working to
make the education and encouragement efforts better.
Congratulation to Cedar Falls!
