Bike MS is a 2-day 150 mile bike ride from the DMACC campus in Ankeny to Riverview Park in Marshalltown (75 miles each way) with an overnight stay in Marshalltown. The ride raises awareness and funds for the North Central MS Society Chapter and all funds that are raised stay in Iowa. This is a casual ride, with rest stops every 10 to 15 miles and there is a celebration at the end of day one of the ride. What is MS? MS (Multiple Sclerosis) is a debilitating and chronic disease that strips the myelin (fatty substance surrounding nerve fibers) away from ones nerves, and causes a disruption in the flow of messages from the brain to other parts of the body. The number of people living with multiple sclerosis increases every hour of every day. This astonishing rate is not going to diminish, nor will it stop, until we've found a cure. Research has made some incredible advances recently, but the world can still only offer disease management drugs and therapies to the 400,000 people living with MS in America. In addition to the Bike MS raffle on Sunday 3/29/09, we are looking to recruit riders and donations. If you would like to join the Wells Fargo Bike MS Team (family and friends are welcome), please go to the following link: You may donate to any Wells Fargo Team member from this link or you may go to the Bike MS Cruise the Cornfields home page and create your own team or register as an individual rider. You may also contact Heather Keiter at heather.j.keiter@wellsfargo.com for information on the Wells Fargo Bike team.
