Armstrong Supports Harkin On Measure DES MOINES, Iowa -- Twelve Iowa cancer survivors were in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday to help Lance Armstrong in the fight against the disease. Armstrong, a seven-time Tour de France winner and cancer survivor, heads the Livestrong Foundation, which is a group working to find a cure. They're teaming up with Democratic Sen. Tom Harkin to support a new bill that would expand access to early screening and treatment of cancer. After riding a portion of the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa last summer, he had said he planned to do the entire ride this year.
