CEDAR FALLS — A 20-year-old woman on a bicycle suffered life-threatening injuries after reportedly being hit by a pickup truck Wednesday on a trail at the entrance of Pheasant Ridge Golf Course, according to Capt. Kelli Yates.

The eastbound, white GMC left the roadway and hit the eastbound bike, several signs and a tree on the path along 12th Street at approximately 3:40 p.m. while swerving to avoid rear-ending a vehicle turning left into the golf course, 3205 W. 12th St.

The injured woman was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. The driver of the pickup was not hurt and was not issued a citation at that time as officers continued to investigate, said Yates.

The Cedar Falls Police Department was assisted by Cedar Falls Fire Rescue, Iowa State Patrol, MercyOne, Black Hawk County Dispatch and Rasmusson Towing.
