This Friday and Saturday! Please join in as the MTA’s new Bike & Ride Program is introduced to Greater Des Moines. Come check out the new bike racks on the buses!

Public announcement of Des Moines MTA bike racks The fast, fun and easy way to take your bike along for the ride! Gas Prices got you down? Beginning October 3, 2005 you will be able to pedal your bike to the nearest MTA stop and we will be there to pick you up, along with your bike, at no extra charge. With a bike rack on every regular, express and commuter route bus you will be able take your bike just about anywhere - work, special events, parks, even your favorite bike trail! FRIDAY - YOU are invited to the news conference and demonstration that will be held on Friday, September 30th, 10:30 am at Nollen Plaza to introduce MTA's Bike & Ride program to Greater Des Moines. SATURDAY - YOU are invited to the Bike Shop Tours. Try out MTA's NEW Bike Racks at the following locations on October 1st:

10:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.
- Bill’s Cyclery - 4411 SW 9th St.
- Bike World Merle Hay - 2929 Merle Hay Rd.
11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
- Boulevard Sports - 4211 Chamberlain Ave.
- Rassmussen - 301 Grand Ave., WDM
1:00 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.
- Barr Bike - 1710 NW 86th St., Clive
- Irwin’s - 5500 Merle Hay Rd., Johnston
2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
- Bike World West - 5970 Ashworth Rd., WDM
- Bike Country - 825 E. 1st St., Ankeny

Whether you’re an avid or casual cyclist, getting around Des Moines will soon be easier than ever thanks to MTA’s Bike & Ride program.

Following the news conference on Friday, September 30th, buses with bike racks will be available from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm for the public to try out - feel free to bring your bike along. If you are unable to attend the news conference and demonstration on the 30th, we will have a booth at the downtown Farmers Market, Saturday, October 1st from 7:00 am - Noon, so you can try out our new bike racks. Bike & Ride brochures and a demonstration video will be available on our website at www.dmmta.com beginning September 26th. Make Des Moines a Bicycle Friendly Community and support the bike racks on the buses! We look forward to seeing you on the 30th at Nollen Plaza and/or Saturday at the Bike Shops!
