Jingle Cross 2017 takes place September 15th, 16th and 17th. In additional to 3 days of racing, there is a 3 day weekend Oktoberfest style celebration with bands, DJ,s and food !!

We've been posting Features on Jingle Cross since 2005!

This year is no different.Over 60 Races and rides for all abilities and over 6000 places to spectate!

Less than 2 hours from Des Moines, this World Class event is right in our backyard! If you don't race cyclocross that is OK! You'll LOVE watching the races and participating in the Beers and Gears Festival!

We literally had to go to Belgium a couple years ago to see races of this caliber!

Last year's World Cup event drew 16,000 spectators and the economic impact was estimated at $1.2 million. The event was televised in the U.S. and across Europe and reached an estimated 8 to 10 million viewers,

Everything happens on the Johnson county fairgrounds and the action is all around you. Large screen TV's will relay the event too so no matter where you stand at the venue, you will see all the action. We've got fun and games all day for the Kids and its great for the family. And don't forget the great Iowa food vendors, bands, DJ's, and the new 3 day Deschutes Brewery Beers and Gears Oktoberfest Celebration and you have a huge globally televised party!

ALL GROWN UP - WORLD CLASS

This charity event has grown-up in its second year hosting a World Cup. There are only NINE World Cup race venues in the WORLD. Only TWO are in the Unities States and Jingle Cross is one of them! This is HUGE for Iowa!

How prestigious is a World Cup? Only the top athletes from each nation are selected by their National Cycling Federations to compete. The Telenet UCI Cyclo-Cross World Cup will be broadcast LIVE globally to dozens of nations by the European broadcasting company Telenet. NBC Sports Network will broadcast in the US.

To put it simply - it's like being the host for Game 1 of the MLB World Series.

Not only will all the European racers be in Iowa City, but many locals as well as racers from all over the United States. There are over 60 events to participate in over the 3 day weekend.

Deschutes Brewery Beers and Gears Festival

Only good things can happen when two festivals collide. The Jingle Cross Christmas themed bicycle race from December now blends in a little traditional Bavarian Oktoberfest to join our September Celebration. We are bringing in some big name bands, great food, and all the festive atmosphere of Oktoberfest. Details to follow but plan this weekend out now!

A 3 day weekend Oktoberfest style celebration with bands, DJ,s and bike racing!

In addition to three days of cyclo-cross racing, the Jingle Cross Cyclo-Cross Festival and Telenet UCI Cyclo-Cross World Cup this year will include a Beers & Gears celebration featuring several Deschutes Brewery craft beers, including some that only are available at the Jingle Cross in Iowa City or the Deschutes brewpub in Oregon. The
Deschutes Beers & Gears beer garden with live music will be located in the north area of the fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Friday and Saturday are **FREE** - Big party under musco Friday Night lights 6-10 pm AND Musco Saturday Night Party 6-10 pm with beer, bands, and DJS

Featured beers will include Twilight Summer Ale and Decathletes Desire, which are only produced at Deschutes Brewery’s Portland and Bend, Oregon, pubs. Other varieties on tap will include Fresh Squeezed IPA, Pacific Wonderland Lager, Hopzeit Autumn IPA, and Deschutes’ newest brew, American Wheat Ale.

A 16-ounce draft will cost $5. Additional 12-ounce bottles of Deschutes Brewery varieties will be available at beverage stations around the fairgrounds for the same price.

“We’ll have three days of racing starting Friday afternoon and continuing until the Telenet UCI World Cup races on Sunday,” Meehan says. “Beers & Gears isn’t just for cyclo-cross athletes and fans. You can also be a fan of micro-brew beer or listening to live music in a fun atmosphere. This will add to the overall Jingle Cross experience.”

Tickets to the Telenet UCI World Cup races on Sunday, Sept. 17, are available on Sunday at the venue $5, or you can buy them in advance for $5 at local bicycle shops and at the Iowa City Area Convention and Visitors Bureau locations in Coralville and Iowa City.

"But what the Iowa people may not know is that our athletes in this World Cup are the very best bike racers in the World. COURSE FEATURES

The Jingle Cross course is one of the toughest courses in the world. The elevation of Mt. Krumpit, Grinch's Lair and the Luge Run alone make this course EPIC !

Frostbite Forest

Frostbite Forest shrouds the trails leading to the summit of Mt. Krumpit. Steep terrain, sharp twists, and off camber turns highlight this rolling ascent to the top.

Jingle Cross Flyover
The Jingle Cross Flyover has a set of stairs going up and a ramp going down as the race gets airborne and goes over the crowd. Spectators can make their way to the base of Mt. Krumpit by passing underneath.

The Grinch's Lair
The Grinch's Lair is a 230 foot long sand trap the riders must bike through. It's easy to get into the Lair, but no so easy to get out!

The Scheel's Bobsled Bomb
The Bobsled Bomb is a high speed descent down the south side of Mt. Krumpit. Sounds like fun except it leads you right into the Grinch's Lair!

Christmas Barn
Christmas lights and holiday music highlight this decked-out hall of a barn as the riders traverse as they make their way through the course to White Christmas and Jingle Bell Rock.

The Double Flyover
The Double Flyover is a 100' x 40' monstrosity that serves as a two lane highway and bridge for the bike riders to go up and over while spectators go under.

Luge Run
The Luge Run is one of the most photographed and visible sections of the Jingle Cross course down the Eastern face of Mt. Krumpit. The crowd is there, the party is there, and the technically tricky and twisting descent is there too!

Holly Jolly Hell-Hole
The Holly Jolly Hell-Hole is a rutted-out, swamped-in creek bed off the south end of the main field. This muddy technical challenge can make or break your race.

Cross Barriers
The Cross Barriers are a standard in just about every cyclo-cross course. Hurdle them on foot or try to clear them on the bike if you have the skills!

Pit Area
Cyclo-cross has a pit area where riders can get a new wheel, a quick fix, or even a whole new bike. Every pro athlete has a pit crew and speed is of the essence. It's like NASCAR on two wheels!
