Party Ride

Distance - Three options available. 12.5, 42,53 miles

On July 11th please join us for the 5th annual Altoona Tune-Up ride. This ride is always the week before Ragbrai and so it was named Altoona tune-Up Ride

Proceeds from the event will go towards Altoona Parks and Trails. This year the focus will be on adding a fix-it station along the Gay Lea Wilson Trail. Additional funds will be directed towards bike racks and rest stations.

Altoona Parks, Altoona Healthy Partnership, The Campus , and Rasmussen Bike Altoona, are among the sponsors and the event is hosted by The Altoona Road Riders. Additional sponsors will be added. More information will be available at www.altoonatuneup.com

The event begins with registration at 7:30 am and optional pancake breakfast by the Kiwanis. Registration is $25 and includes a dry- fit t-shirt and meal ticket from Fireside. Event shirts are only available to those who register by June 19th

The ride starts at the Civic Plaza by the Hy Vee at 8:30 and has the option of a 12.5 mile route on trail , or 42 to 53 miles on scenic Eastern Polk County roads

Helmets and waivers are required and children must be accompanied by an adult

Raffle / Poker Ride

There is bike raffle for a Giant Defy bike. Tickets are $5 or 3 for $10.   Riders also have the option to participate in a Poker Ride with a $5 entry fee.

Live Entertainment, Food, And Adult Beverages until 6pm

Altoona Family Fun Fest is also going on at the Plaza and will provide a kids ride along the trail with safety stops and free ice cream. there will be Vendors. Carnival type games and free inflatables and our popular splash park . Go to www.altoonafff.com or Facebook altoonafamilyfunfest. 


  

Route

The route starts at Civic Plaza and follows the Gay Lea Wilson Trail to Pleasant Hill ( sleepy Hollow)  with an option to turn around there and return to the Plaza for 12.5 miles. From there the route runs along scenic Eastern Polk county roads of varying terrain to sleepy hollow, Runnells, Mitchellville, Bondurant, and back to Altoona. There are options for food restrooms and beverages in each community.
